PROPERTIES

As with the Energy Bites recipes, this recipe contains ingredients such as coconut oil/cream which are rich in medium chain triglycerides (MCT).

Why are these medium chain triglycerides so useful for pancreatic cancer or pancreatitis? They are recommended when there is an altered digestion of fats which result in steatorrheas and reduced absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (ADEK).

These triglycerides are an easily available source of energy and are more easily absorbed than long-chain ones as they do not require emulsion from bile acids.

Coconut oil contains, not only MCT but also oleic acid, linoleic acid, traces of vitamin E, potassium, iron, magnesium and selenium.

Avocado, on the other hand, is rich in fat-soluble vitamins (A-E) and water-soluble vitamins (C), omega-3, linoleic acid, calcium, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus.

Please remember that it is always recommended to refer to a trusted nutritionist, who along with a specialist doctor, will dose the pancreatic enzymes appropriately.
